A Dream, A Building, and a Community Worth Fighting For
I’ll be honest—my brain is a constant whirlwind of anxiety, ADHD, hope, and joy, all spinning together like the steam off a fresh cup of coffee. Some days, I wake up overwhelmed with excitement about what we’re building here. Other days, my mind races with fear—What if we can’t make this happen? What if we lose everything we’ve worked for? But today, I’m choosing to push past the fear and lean into the hope and joy—and I’m inviting you to be part of it.
When we first stepped into this old shop building, it wasn’t much to look at. It was worn, outdated, and forgotten—just another empty space that had lost its purpose. But where others saw an abandoned storefront, we saw a home for creativity, connection, and community. We saw a place where people could gather, dream, and build something special together.
And that’s exactly what we did.
With a lot of love, hard work, and creativity (plus plenty of coffee-fueled late nights), we transformed this space into something truly unique. We didn’t go the easy route. Instead of shiny new furniture and mass-produced décor, we’ve built this space with upcycled treasures from the MSU Surplus Store—giving new life to old things, just like we’re giving new life to this building.
But this dream isn’t just about creating a cozy space. It’s about people.
🖼️ It’s about local artists—giving them a place to showcase their talent, tell their stories, and share their work with the world.
🛍️ It’s about small businesses—offering them a home to grow, thrive, and connect with a community that values what they do.
🎨 It’s about creativity and collaboration—a space where ideas come to life, where people can meet, create, and be inspired.
💛 It’s about keeping this community one-of-a-kind—because if we don’t buy this building, there’s a real risk that big business will.
And we can’t let that happen.
If we don’t act now, we risk losing this space to another soulless chain store or development project that doesn’t care about this community the way we do. But if we own this building, we secure this place as a permanent hub for creativity, local businesses, and meaningful connections.
Here’s where we need you.
💡 We’re raising money to buy the building—to keep it out of the hands of big business and ensure it remains a place that belongs to the people who love it.
🌱 Every dollar gets us closer to securing this space for artists, small businesses, and dreamers who deserve a chance to shine.
🤝 Your support means everything. Whether you can donate, share this post, or simply send words of encouragement, it all helps more than you know.
This isn’t just about buying a building. It’s about protecting something special. It’s about proving that when a community comes together, we can create something bigger than ourselves. Something real. Something lasting.
Will you help us make this dream a reality?
